We at The Forge at Wells have developed a wide range of Fire baskets over the years, most of which are made by hand at our Forge. Fire baskets suitable for most fireplaces are available. The smallest fire grates are the traditional tapered fire baskets which fit the popular tapered Milner Fire backs and are available in two sizes of fire grates: 16" and 18".
 The F4 and F4A fire grates feature a scroll design and we produce in addition the plainer more modern F4B and F4C Fire baskets. Also within the tapered category are the attractive Bow Front fire baskets again with two styles: the Traditional Bow (F5 and F5L) Fire Baskets with Fleurs de Lys spikes and the more straightforwardly elegant Edwardian Bow Front fire baskets (F5E and F5EL).
There are no fewer than 25 different styles of free standing fire baskets, or dog baskets, to choose from. Of these, six designs of fire baskets feature their own separate dogs which support the actual burning basket. Our largest fire basket is the 42" wide version of the Swans Nest fire baskets which when mounted on its dogs has an overall width of almost 50".
You can choose from eleven different designs of Fire dogs most of which are  hand made at the Forge.
Many of our fire baskets are available with optional brass finials which create a strong contrast to the black of the fire grates. Most of the fire baskets incorporate replaceable cast iron grids which means that fire baskets can give many years of useful life.
Some people consider that the traditional appearance of  fire grates goes on improving with age.
When winter comes and especially at Christmas there is no substitute for the joy and delight of a real open fire in  traditional fire baskets with the associated sound and smell of crackling logs.

We can supply Coal Effect Gas Fires for most of our fire baskets and fire grates along with Logs and Pebbles if required. The extra cost of a Coal Effect gas fire is shown for all fire baskets, when available.
